the early 1960’s Palestine’s objections turned to action when the Jordan based guerilla group Fatah, lead by Yasser Arafat, promised the return of the Palestinians to their homeland.
- When violence escalated in 1967, the Palestinian Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a nationalist political and military organization, was developed.
- In September 1970 three jets were held in ransom on Dawson’s field in Jordan. The planes represented western technology and were blown up.
- During the 1972 summer Olympics in Munich, the Palestinian militant group Black September, named after the conflict, stormed the Israeli athlete dormitory. Two Israeli athletes were killed and nine were taken hostage. The German police planned an armed rescue. However, with the confusion of gun battle the German police, all the hostages, and five terrorist were killed.
