Confederate troops disbanded from the area after the first battle of Bull Run, the Union, under the leadership of Irvin McDowell, had been occupied assembling a line, to maintain their battle front. Meanwhile, the Confederates had other plans as General Thomas Jackson began to assemble a band of Confederate rebels along the crest of Henry House Hill.

• In the ensuing battle, General Bernard Bee delivered the famous line referring to General Jackson, “Look men, there stands Jackson like a stone wall.” This famous line would give birth to the nickname etched forever in history, “Stonewall” Jackson.

• General Bee was killed soon after during the battle.
