many ways to come back and haunt us, and one of those ways is by elevating to the clouds and coming back in the form of acid rain. Acid rain has been the main culprit in the deterioration of acres upon acres of forest in Europe and Canada over the last 30 years.
• Years of burning fossil fuels had created another environmental problem, an irreversible environmental problem. Until scientists had informed governments around the world that pollution had actually caused a hole in the Earth’s atmosphere, it had been a problem that had not been given much of a priority.
• Possibly even more alarming, was the melting of polar ice caps. Since 1950, an iceberg the size of Luxembourg had completely melted away, raising red flags with concern of rising water levels which could essentially sink many of the smaller Island countries that exist today, as well as wreak havoc for many other countries. An example would be Bangladesh, where there is no barrier from the impending Indian Ocean. Bangladesh was the scene of a tragic flood storm in 1970 that drowned roughly 300,000 people.
