MiG-29 Fulcrum

  by Staff Editor

While its looks similar to that of the American F/A-18 Hornet, Russia’s MiG-29 has a wing design offering greater maneuverability at high angles of attack. Even before the MiG-29M variant had fly-by-wire flight controls added the Fulcrum’s agility was admired in the West. At ranges of 40 miles of more, American fighters have an advantage over Fulcrum due to superior avionics. This advantage shifts in close-in battle due to the MiG-29’s weapons sight and exceptional maneuverability. The MiG-29 is a widely exported aircraft, flown by Iraq, Iran, North Korea and Cuba.
