EF-2000 Typhoon
by Staff EditorIn 1983 France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK agreed to develop a common air superiority fighter for the 21st Century. France eventually pulled out of the program to develop the Rafale, but the effort finally culminated in the development of the single-seat, twin-engine Eurofighter, named the Typhoon for export. The Typhoon is optimized for the air defense with powerful advanced engines and high maneuverability, and began entering service in 2002. Typhoon is intentionally aerodynamically unstable to provide extremely high levels of agility, reduced drag and enhanced lift, compensating for this instability with fly-by-wire flight controls. Typhoon is capable of delivering large payloads over long distance in any weather conditions, day or night.
